About the Nursing Council on Alcohol

The widespread consequences of harmful alcohol use impacts on nurses, midwives and health visitors working in health and social care settings. The Nursing Council on Alcohol (NCA) was established to provide support, advice, guidance and information to nurses, midwives and health visitors relating to prevention and management of harmful alcohol use.

The Nursing Council on Alcohol, a registered charity (Number SC 031983), was launched in November 2000 in Glasgow. Read further information about the need for the NCA and why the NCA was formed and view the NCA activities.

The Nursing Council on Alcohol (NCA) is a member of the national strategic alliance supporting the WHO collaborative Phase IV project on implementing countrywide screening and brief alcohol intervention strategies in primary health care in England.
